This course outlines the principles of Recording Electrodes for EEG and other biophysical recording systems.

This course covers the following topics:-

• Electrode characteristics
• Care and maintenance of Electrodes

This course contains areas of research in alignment with ANSA Inc. EEG Competency Statements.

Core Knowledge

• Identify advantages and disadvantages of different types of electrodes
• Discuss sterilising procedures including high risk infectious diseases according to current Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) and Infection Control (IC) regulations.
• Identify the need to chloride and re-cholride silver electrodes
• Discuss the chemical and electrolytic process to chloride and de-chloride silver electrodes

• Identify advantages and disadvantages  of different types of application
• Demonstrate appropriate stability of electrode application for length of recording
• Identify and implement infection control procedures

Completing the EEG

• Remove electrodes according to different applications according to WH&S and OC regulations and patient comfort
• Clean recording electrodes in accordance with WH&S and IC regulations
